Blog #1 – Earth is our home.

Earth is our home, meaning its condition can affect us, as human who lives in it. As we all know, our planet is polluted with all kinds of things that causes our environment to have big and negative changes. This changes is due to human activities. Most of our activities, can affect our environment. This activities include deforestation, overpopulation, pollution (water, air, land, noise) and etc. How we treat our planet will affect our type of living. So as humans, we must help to preserve our environment in our own simple ways. As a student, we can start it in our home or at school.

In this blog, you will learn how to take care of our environment, starting from our home. Here are the ways:

1. Use Reusable Things (Bag, utensils, containers, etc)

There are so many things that we can reuse especially in our homes. Reusing can lessen the disposal of garbage. Whether you are shopping for food, clothes or books, use a reusable bag. This cuts down on litter and prevents animals from getting a hold of them. Metal utensils are green products. They are 100% recyclable, as they are not coated with any toxic material it does not produce toxic run-off. A huge difference can be made by companies and individuals by simply choosing stainless steel over non-recyclable materials.

2. Plant! Plant! Plant!

Planting any type of plant outside your home is a great help in our environment. Plants are not just important to the human environment, they form the basis for the sustainability and long-term health of environmental systems. Green plants remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and generate the oxygen required for life. Green plants are also a good source of food and protection.

3. Save Electricity

Use energy-efficient light bulbs instead of regular bulbs. They last longer, which will save you a bit of money . Make you turn off lights, the TV, and other appliances when you are not using them. Lower your air conditioning or heat when it’s not necessary.

4. Save Water.

We must also save water especially fresh water because it is scarce.
Clean, fresh water is a limited resource. With all the severe droughts happening in the world, the limited supply of fresh water is becoming one of our most precious resources. Every person on earth needs water to survive. Without it, many of us would get sick and even result in death.

5. Recycle

Recycling is such a simple thing to do, but most of us don’t do it. We can start simple recycling in our homes. We just need to be creative and resourceful. Here are ways to recycle things.

a. Plastic Soda Container used as pot, jar and ecobrick.
b. Donate or sell any books that you no longer read.
c. Cardboard boxes as container for materials.
d. Make compost out of leftover vegetables, fruit, bread and egg shells.
